About the Project

About AIDurian

A Philippine-developed AI research initiative advancing objective, non-invasive durian quality assessment — from field to laboratory to market.

AI-powered assessment, rooted in real durian farms.

AIDurian is an AI-based non-invasive grading research initiative developed by the University of the Philippines Mindanao with industry and government partners. It advances objective and efficient durian assessment through imaging, acoustic analysis, and deep learning.

The project integrates computer vision, acoustic analysis, and deep learning to classify durian maturity, assess ripeness, detect and categorize surface defects, count locules, and evaluate fruit shape — without damaging the fruit.

Implemented in collaboration with key industry partners — Rosario's Delicacies, D'Farmers Market, VJT Enterprises, Eng Seng, and Belviz Farms — the system was developed and validated against operational realities in Mindanao's durian industry.
